Architecture of DUBAI
The Original idea came from the concept of a blossoming flower~
Greek firm
petra architects have designed 'blossoming dubai' for their proposal for
the zaabeel park tall emblem structure competition.
They based their design on the form of a blossoming flower. the tower is equipped
with two elevators running on spiral rails (spiral of the most simple geometry turning
135 degrees while ascending 138 meters). these lifts ascend from lower ground floor
(where the visitors enter) to the cafeteria level and the viewing platform above.
apart from the previously mentioned elevators that can cover all visitor access
(including disabled access), there are also two staircases fitted in the spiraling elements
of the building. the latter can be used on an emergency case.
Spaces:
Main building access is on the ground floor and through the two symmetrical structures
located on each side of the tower’s base. one of the structures houses the children’s library
while providing (through skylights) an excellent view of the tower above. the children have
the chance to use both the enclosed library as well as part of the park outside. the conference
rooms are located on the lower ground floor offering a more controlled environment. all this
area is flooded with natural light from skylight-like holes on the ground above while framing
views of the tower. the building’s cafeteria is located 135 meters above ground and provides
a 360 degree view of dubai and the surrounding zaabeel park. there are also two staircases
connecting the cafeteria level with the viewing platform above providing a connection
between the two.
MY OPINIONS AND MOTIVES
As i have chosen Structure as my main design aspect of my building i decided to have a look closely at the different component structures that combine together and make up the final model. As you look simply at Australia Square Tower it only consists of a cylindrical core ad facade that rises up to the top with columns all the way around the building. I got my inspiration from looking at some of the architectural structures of Dubai such as the "Tall Emblem Structure" and "Blossoming Dubai" as described in full detail above. Dubai's architecture is very amazing and unique, in the way its been built and utilized. I was very intrigued when i came across these buildngs and did alot of research on it. I really liked the way the architects twisted the whole structure or even just twisting the columns around thr building making it look spiral. And it proves that you can shape and distort architecture in any way you want it to look like. So i decided to do something similar to my Tower model by trying to twist, stretch and make it have a different personality and image then the original image. I already have a completed model of the tower that my group had put together, and now im combining Revit with 3D Studio Max to try and work around and experiment with the different techniques i could use to get my final result. Like for example in Revit i could use the Massing tool and just try and work around it, and for 3D Studio Max, once imported the model from Revit i can use the FFD Techique.
